I started my shop to share my love for prehistoric animals. The name Prehysteria comes not only from one of my favorite dinosaur movies as a kid, but also how I feel when discovering new animals from the past. It is like a hysteria that makes me research a whole line of evolution and learn new things about the history of animals I love.
When I graduated college I received a grant to study these animals at the Paris Natural History Museum. There, I was able to get up close to all these animals and really study them. Since I returned from the trip I have been working in clay, bronze, and illustration to recreate prehistoric animals.

My clay pieces are all originals. They are sculpted from a solid lump of clay, then hollowed out and reassembled. The surfaces are sometimes mixed media and sometimes fired on stains and glazes. The functional items in this shop are also ceramic and made from an original piece that I made a mold of. The imagery is either from decals that I print myself, or my own design in slips and glazes.

I also work at a bronze foundry where I have some of my clay pieces cast in bronze. This is a very time intensive process and a much more expensive material than clay.

The prints in my shop are all made from an original drawing. These are done in pencil, then inked and sometimes colored with pencils, or watercolor and guache.
